Unfortunately, minor children are very often much more subject of divorce proceedings than just parties, as some parents forget to keep the best interests of their children in mind in these conflicting and emotionally demanding situations. The best interest is usually the possibility of staying in contact with both parents while maintaining the same standard of living for the children as before the divorce.
When representing our clients in custody, access modification or aliments disputes, we strive to apply the principles of the so-called Cochem Model. Its aim is to resolve the dispute as quickly as possible so that the conflict between the parents does not deepen further, to cooperate with all the parties involved (OSPOD, the court, the other party) and, above all, to mitigate the impact of the divorce on the minor children as much as possible.
